Joann Littleton born in Pensacola Florida September 13,1941 affectionately known as Mamaw, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones June 10 at her home. She was a devoted mother to her three children: Charles Littleton, Jr. of Athens , Joe ( Lisa) Littleton of Athens and Deborah (TR)Atkins of Athens, Teresa Littleton of Athens, Mark Meadows of Decatur.
Joann was also a cherished grandmother to Austin (Taylor)Meadows, of NC, Kyle (Ashley) Littleton of Athens, Max (Samantha) Littleton of Lenoir City, Chris Meadows of Decatur, and Amberly Richards of Florida. Blake and Anna Atkins of Tellico Plains. One great granddaughter Ruth Jean Littleton.
She leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly.
Joann was a woman of deep faith and dedication. She served as the organist for the Lookout Valley Presbyterian Church in her early Christian years and later on was an active member of Allen Memorial Church for many years, where she was an active member of the choir. Her commitment to her community was evident through her devotion and involvement in various church clubs, including The Quilters Church Club and Nurture group She also served as a prayer shepherd for the shut-ins.
She was a 1959 graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga. Her time there was filled with fond memories and lifelong friendships.
She was a dedicated employee for the Postal Service for 25 years and loved sharing many of her stories with her grandkids, who remember them fondly.
Most know Joann from her time owning Littleton’s County Store where she made lifelong memories that stayed with her the rest of her life.
Joann's life was enriched by her sister in law , special friend and her partner in crime, Janet Littleton of 61 years. Joann's legacy of love, faith, and community service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2025 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM.
