Brenda Smith Clanton

BRENDA SMITH CLANTON, age 80 of Athens TN. went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 21, 2024 at her residence. A native of Jacksonville, Florida and a current resident of Athens TN since 2000. She was the Daughter of the Late Marvin and Claris Dorsey Smith. She was preceded in death by Brothers; Jerre M. Smith and Mark A. Smith, Uncle; Robert C. Dorsey. 

Before moving to Athens, Brenda was a member of Neptune Baptist Church in Neptune Beach FL where she was a Sunday School teacher and served the youth. She also volunteered as a teachers aid for elementary students. When she moved to Athens in 2000 she became a member of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church of Athens TN. She was co-owner of Golden Touch Life Management Services for 24 years. Prior to that she worked for Allied Bendix/Unison Industries (Areo-Space Company) as a contract admin and engineering coordinator for 17 years in Jacksonville. She was an entrepreneur at heart. A Mary-Kay consultant, realtor for Century 21, and she also worked for Shaklee vitamins as well as Amway as a sales representative. Brenda was a people person and people enjoyed being around her because she had a certain presence about her that made all feel welcome. Most of all she was a follower Jesus Christ and prayer warrior. 

Survivors; Life-long Companion of 45 years, Holly C. Enten of Athens TN. Two Sons; Sean (Angel) Clanton of Asheville NC, Reid (Lisa) Clanton of Atlanta GA, 4 grandchildren; Abbey Clanton, Grace (Ross) Clanton Crim, Avery Clanton and Smith Clanton, 1 Great- Grandchild; Maverick Crim. Several nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to express a very special thank you to Golden Touch Life Management Services for their care of Brenda and her family over the years. 

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 4-6pm in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association in Brenda's memory.
