Sally Sue Spradling

Sally Plumlee Spradling, age 73 of Meigs County, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at her residence.
A native of Herrin, IL, former resident of McMinn County for over 40 years, she was a daughter of the late Harold Maurice and Rhuetta Umeka Green Plumlee, and was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Kris Michael Spradling; 2 Siblings, Harold Leon Plumlee and Kathy Plumlee Strickland.
She was of the Baptist Faith and attended Good Hope Baptist Church of Decatur.  Her favorite job and the one that she was most known for was Managing the Cafeteria at the Athens Junior High School and was retired from Denso after 12 years of service.  She enjoyed cooking and got tremendous satisfaction from feeding her coworkers and family.  She 
loved watching her children and grandchildren playing at sporting events and was their biggest fan.
Survivors:

  • 1 son and daughter-in-law, David and Leslie Spradling of Decatur;
  • 1 daughter and son-in-law, Kristal and Steve Jones of Decatur;
  • 2 step-daughters, Mona Underwood and husband Leon and Deidre Spradling all of Knoxville.
  • 2 sisters and brothers-in-law. Bonnie and Andy Strickland of Powell, Peggy and Abe Stearns of Energy, Illinois.
  • 1 brother-in-law, Tommy Strickland of Etowah.
  • 4 Grandchildren, Lensi Merriman and husband Tyler, Triston Spradling, Luke Jones and Daylen Spradling.
  • 3 great-grandchildren, Emerly Merriman,  Koryn Merriman and one on the way Walker Merriman.
  • Several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 4-7 PM on Saturday, October 12, 2019 in the conference room at Servpro in Athens, 101 S. White St., Athens, TN 37303.
