Artie Marie Jackson Coffey, age 90 passed away peacefully at her daughter Judy's home in Cleveland on May 27, 2019.
A native of Bradley County, she was the oldest of 6 and was born on September 5, 1928 to the late Lester Raymond and Ora Elkins Jackson and was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Bruce Kenneth Coffey on December 8, 2009;  a son, Bruce Kenneth Coffey, Jr. on May 6, 1995;a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and John Hutsell; a brother, Raymond Jackson.
She was known for her love and zesty personality, she loved life, gardening, cooking, all Tennessee Sports and traveling.  She was a devoted stay at home mother who was involved in every aspect of her children's lives and after raising them began her career outside the home at Athens Hosiery Mill.  Then she worked at Ripe N Ready selling fresh produce where she took pride in sharing her recipes and her secrets for selecting the ripest watermelon/cantaloupe to her customers as well as choosing the perfect Christmas Tree.  She loved  having her family around her at all times.  The most important aspect of her life was her love and honor for the Lord and to set a loving example.  She was a member of Clearwater Baptist Church and also raised her children there.

3 sons, 2 daughters and their spouses;
Dr. Ben and Patsy Coffey of Sweetwater, Judy and Vernon Darnell of Cleveland; Ronny Coffey of Athens; Debbie and Scott Brakebill of Chattanooga and Tim Coffey of Palm Beach, Florida;
3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Chester Simpson, Essie and Don Wade, Polly and Charles Kincaid;
Daughter-in-law, Connie W. Coffey Lowery of Niota;
Sister-in-law, Martha Jean Jackson of Athens;
12 grandchildren
14 great grandchildren 
3 great-great grandchildren.
Many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be will be 7:00 PM Thursday, May 30, 2019 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with her nephew, Greg Hutsell and grandson, Bryan Coffey officiating.  Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday, May 31, 2019 at Clearwater Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dr. Scott Coffey, Bryan Coffey, Jeff Darnell, David Darnell, Stockton Coffey and great-grandsons, Jaykob Stephens and Winston Coffey.  The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.  
The family would like to express a very special thank you to her daughter/our sister Judy Marie for her loving care and dedication in taking care of our mother 24/7 for the past 3 years, to Kris, Monica, Angelia, Joann, Sheryll and to Avalon Hospice and Chaplin Joe for loving our mother as if she were their own.
