Alton Andrew Knox

ALTON KNOX, age 95 of Niota, Tenn. passed away Friday, August 23, 2019, in Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, Tn.  He was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, a son of the late Ruel Arthur and Lissie Marie Miller Knox and preceded in death by preceded in death by Brothers: Virgil L. Knox, George Knox  Sisters:, Nellie Ann Knox Farris, Wilma Sue Ann Knox Bohannon,  Geneva Sue Knox Axley, Granddaughters: Tami Hughes and Carrie Landreth.  He was a farmer,  former employee of McMinn County Highway Dept., and formerly owned and operated  Clearwater Market. He was a member of Clearwater Baptist Church. 
Survivors: Wife of 70 years: Amanda Lingerfelt Knox of Niota, Tenn., Three Daughters and sons-in-law: Jean Edwards of Knoxville, Tenn., Ann and Dean Landreth of Riceville, Tenn. , Kathy and Mark Cobble of Athens, Tenn.,  Four Sons and daughters-in-law: Bill and Janice Hughes of Niota, Tenn., Don and Katherine Knox of Athens, Tenn.,  Jimmy and Jane Knox of Niota, Tenn., Jeff and Tina Knox of Niota, Tenn., Sister: Blanche Neil of Cleveland, Tenn., Two Brothers: Walter Knox of Cleveland, Tenn. Ray and Cathy Knox of Niota, Tenn.,  14 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren,  2 Great Great Grandchildren several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Hutsell and  Rev. Greg McCosh officiating. Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Monday in Clearwater Cemetery with Rev. Danny Singleton officiating. Active pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great Grandsons.  Honorary pallbearers will Dean Landreth and Mark Cobble. The family will recieve friends from 4-7 Sunday in the funeral home.
