Truman Combs, age 87, of Niota has gone to be with Jesus Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at his residence. A native of Norton, Virginia a resident of Dayton, Ohio for more than 50 years, and a resident of McMinn County for 26 years, he was the son of the late Watson and Margaret Lena Farren Huff Combs. Truman grew up in Dayton Ohio and joined the U.S. Navy at age 17. Married Marilyn of Wilmington, California in 1959, worked at General Motors and was a police officer for the village of Union, Ohio. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing, and was a member of Pond Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Combs, Thurman Combs, Larry Combs, Clayton Combs and niece Gail Combs.
He was survived by his wife of 67 years Marilyn Ann Morton Combs of Niota; daughter, Pamala Jeanne Combs of Austin, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Debbie Bell Combs of Niota, TN; adopted son , Tony and wife Susan Baker of Hillsboro, Ohio; grandchildren, Bradley Wayne Combs, Tara Blue; step grandchildren, Tyson Bell, Amber Bell, Graylin Bell, Trevor Bell, Dillon Bell and spouses; great-grandson, Isaac Combs; nieces and nephews, Barry Combs, Terry Combs, Teresa Combs,
The graveside services will be 3 pm Friday, July 4, 2025 at Pond Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Travis Roberts. Jerry Simpson will be singing "Go Rest High On That Mountain" and will be leading "The Old Rugged Cross" at the graveside.
