Sarah Lucinda Wattenbarger

Sarah Lucinda Wattenbarger, age 71 of Athens,went to be with the Lord Monday, Nov. 28, 2022 at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County,and the daughter of the late Ules and Frankie Riggs. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Steven "Rick' Wattenbarger (Dec. 6, 2013), and grand daughter Ashley Todd.
Survivors;
Son and daughter-in-law, David Palmer and wife Jennifer of Sweetwater; Daughters, Sarah Melinda (Sissy) Thomas and husband Jeff of Tellico Plains; Mary Todd and husband Johnny of Sweetwater, and Alisha Wattanbarger of Athens; Sisters Janetta Moore, Elizabeth and husband Junior Runyan. Grandchildren. David Thomas and wife Carly of Tellico Plains, Patricia Leann McKean and husband T.J. of Englewood, and James Todd of Athens. Great grandchildren including, Akeem Todd, Chris Parton, Jami McKean, Sarah Thomas, Sophia Thomas, Ashley Thomas and Jason Todd. .
Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022 in chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev.James Morgan offficiating. The graveside will be 2:00 pm Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022 at  Christianburg Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Gossett, Eddie Stephens, David Thomas, Allan Riggs, T.J. Palmer and Kaid Layman.The family will receive friend from 5-7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home before the service.
