Ronald "Ronnie" Dean Sneed, age 77, of Athens passed away unexpectantly Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 29, 1943 to Mart and Myrtle Sneed. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a born again child of God and a member of Rockview Baptist Church. Ronnie served as deacon for 50 years. He worked for Western Auto for approximately 30 + years and Cherokee Hardware for several years. He was preceded in death by his father, Mart Sneed and his mother Myrtle Thearp Sneed; one sister, Joyce Malone; three brothers, L.H. Sneed , Ray Sneed and Bobbie Sneed; one nephew, Larry Sneed; brothers-in-law, Buck Cranfield, Dallas Cranfield, Willie Cranfield, Kenneth Cranfield and Harold Monroe; Sisters-in-law, Joyce Cranfield, Alice Cranfield, Marie Cranfield, Edna Hennessee and Dot Swafford.

One brother, Lester Sneed;  brothers-in-law, Paul Cranfield, Oliver Cranfield,and wife Juanita, Kenny Cranfield; sisters-in-law, Emma Monroe and Barbara Joyce Cranfield, Several nieces and nephews, Special great, great niece, Xzayla Cranfield and nephews, Edward and Ryan Cranfield
Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Friday, July 17, 2020 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeremy Sneed and Rev. David Waldon officiating. The graveside will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 28, 2020 at Valley Road Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Johnathan Cranfield, Dewayne Cranfield, Craig Ratledge, Jake Cranfield, Daryl Cranfield and Chris Rose. Honorary pallbearers will be, Larry McCosh, Kenneth Willis, Joe Culberson, Eddie McKheen, Kenny Cranfield, Oliver Cranfield and Paul Cranfield.
