Robert "Bob" Jackson Thomas

Robert (Bob) J. Thomas Jr., 75, of Bethlehem, GA, formerly of Athens, TN, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.

Bob was born on Friday, August 13, 1943 to the late Robert J. Thomas Sr. and Laura Evelyn (Yates) Thomas in Macon, GA. He was a 1961 graduate of Haines City High School (Haines City, FL) and a 1965 graduate of Tennessee Temple College (Chattanooga, TN). On July 3, 1965 he married his college sweetheart, Susan Margaret Flynn.

Bob lived a life of ministry to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Serving churches for over 50 years in Florida, Georgia, Ohio, and Tennessee. The impact that he had on the lives that he touched will not be fully known on this side of heaven. Besides serving in church’s Bob worked for Sears Roebuck Co., managed a Credit Bureau, ran a Christian radio station, drove a school bus, he also worked in several other areas of retail.

Bob’s hobbies included golf, photography, reading, gardening, and talking to anyone and everyone (he knew no stranger!).

Bob is survived by

• His loving wife of 53 years, Susan Margaret (Flynn) Thomas.
• Two children; Sherry Ellington (Ted), and Robert J Thomas III (Amy).
• Brothers; John Thomas (Joyce), Julian Thomas (Delene)
• One Sister; Ruth Gotsch.
• Sister-in-law; Judith Castle (Keith).
• Six grandchildren
• Four great grandchildren,
• Several nieces and nephews.
• Very Special long-term family friend Jeannie Springfield (Vic).

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Laycock Hobbs Funeral Home with Bob’s son Pastor Jack Thomas officiating. Friends will be received from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Internment will be at the Cedar Grove Cemetery immediately following the funeral.
