Robert "Bob" Eugene Powers

ROBERT EUGENE "BOB" POWERS,  age 90 of Athens, Tenn. passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, in Starr Regional Medical Center of Athens, Tenn. He was a native and resident of McMinn County, Tenn. most of his life, son of the late Lloyd and Reba Stephens Powers, preceded in death by his wife: Lorena Joyce Powers, Sister: Sheila Helton, and Brother: Steve Powers.
He was retired owner of Bob's Small Engine and served as McMinn  County Commissioner for 12 years. He was a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church and was a member of the National Guard Army 278th Inf. during the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Order. He was a member of "The Liars Club" at Bojangle's. 
Survivors: Son: Ricky Powers of Athens, Tenn., Four Daughters and sons-in-law: Sherry and Glenn Cleek of Athens, Tenn., Becky and Wayne Holland of East Ridge, Tenn., Rita and Phillip Cook of Athens, Tenn, Tammy Duvall Powers and Bart  Blackwell of Athens Tenn. Ten Grandchildren, Twenty Great Grandchildren, Seven Great Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Eastanallee Cemetery. Active pallbearers Chris Cleek, Rick Shadrick, Wes Trotter, Chad Trotter, Travis Rucker, and Ethan Coleman. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryce Trotter, Garrett McNabb,  Conner Shadrick,  Jackson Fox and  Chance Hodsden   The family will recieve friends from 12:00 to 3:00 P. M. Sunday in the funeral home. Lots of good memories. One inviting us in and didn’t remember who we were. Shows you he didn’t meet stranger s You we’re always welcome. Then the funniest was asking if we wanted a hot dog while feeding his dogs steak !!

Mark and Leah Allen, I am so sorry for tje loss of Uncle Bob, He taught me a lot while growing up acrooss the street. He was a great man with a loving heart for others especially his beloved animals. You will be missed.
