Robert Lee “Bob” Bever, 68, passed away on December 19, 2017, while on vacation with his family.

Preceded in death by:

  • Mother, Laila Jean Longstreth 
  • Father, John Robert Bever
  • Sister, Karen Richter.     

Survivors:

  • Wife, Barbara “Joey” Nervo-Bever 
  • Daughters, Gina Bever and Stephanie York
  • Brother, Ronald Bever (Mary) 
  • Sister, Sherry Burley (Mickey)
  • Sister, Sandra Smith (Skip)
  • Sister Debra Miller
  • Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Bob spent much of his life, especially after his retirement, in service to his family, community and others. As a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, he served in the Knights of Columbus for several years – serving as Grand Knight from 2014 to 2016 of Council #8396 and was a Charter Member and Trustee of Patriot Assembly (4th Degree) # 3680.  He also served regularly as an usher for the church and was involved in various other church-related activities and functions.

 

SSGT Robert Lee Bever, was a proud U.S. Army Special Forces/(Green Beret) veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He served with the 5th Special Forces group during his active duty and later with the 11th Special Forces/(Green Berets) in Reserves. Staff Sergeant  Robert Lee Bever was (ABN), Halo, Ski and Scuba qualified. He was a member of the Special Forces Association, serving as President of Chapter #33 of the Special Forces Association at the time of his passing.

The life and legacy of Robert “Bob” Bever will be celebrated with a Celebration of Life Mass on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Athens, Tenn. (1291 E Madison Ave, Athens, TN 37303).  

His beloved wife of nearly 48 years, Barbara “Joey” Nervo-Bever, and his loving daughters, Gina Bever and Stephanie York, will receive friends and family in the narthex of St. Mary Catholic Church starting at 10 a.m.

A Celebration of Life Mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Jim Haley, CSP Celebrant.
