Rev. Charles Edward Dixon

REV. CHARLES E. DIXON,  age 87 of Flintstone, Ga. passed away Saturday, March 30 in Advanced Rehab of Parkside, in Rossville, Ga. He was born in Riceville, Tenn. , a son of late Grady and Bernice Millard Dixon and preceded in death by his Brother: Billy Dixon. Charles was called in the the ministry of the United  Methodist Church and served diligently for almost fifty years. His appointments included: Cleveland Unity; Etowah Circuit; Ducktown/ Crofts Chapel; South Cleveland; Shallowford Road; St. Paul Circuit; Clintwood, Va.  Daisy, Tn.  and Flintstone, Ga. Charles had a passion for preaching and helping  the less fortunate. His sermons often touched on a staple attitude that he had: "We all need to take care of each other." He served the communities that he lived in. Umpiring and coaching  youth baseball  was something he was very proud to do. He knew the importance of young people in the church and reinforced many of the youth programs in the churches he served. He loved fiercely and will be missed dearly by all. 
 He is survived by his Wife of 66 yearsand his high school sweet heart: Edna Britt Dixon of Flintstone, Ga.., Two Beautiful Daughters and Sons-in-law: Kitty and Kenny Hays of Flintsone, Ga., Cathy and Tim Paul of Knoxville, Tenn.  Four Grandchildren and spouses: Tyson and Faerlie Hays, Ashley and Lew Kizer, Will Hays and Kirby Deal, Two Great Grandchildren LB and Daisy Kizer  
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in  Cedar Grove Cemetery with Rev. Tim Paul and Rev. Lew Kizer officiating. The family will  recieve friends from 12:00 to 1:45P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Lookout, 3130 Ga. 157, Rising Fawn, Ga. 30738.  Condolences may be sent  to www.laycockhobbs.com/notices/Charles-Dixon.
