Renate Anna Hohmann Richards, age 81 of Athens passed away, Wednesday February 4, 2026 at her residence.

She was a native of Germany and resident of Athens for more than 20 years and was a daughter of the late Peter and Karolina Krick Hohmann and was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Tondevold a son Gordon Tondevold and a granddaughter, Jacqueline Sutton.

She was a former employee of Hardees where she worked as the store manager before her retirement after 18 years of service. She loved animals, reading and shopping.

Survivors:

1 daughter and son in law, Virginia and Doug Sutton of Athens;

1 son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Ruth Tondevold of Mascoutah, Illinois;

7 grandchildren and spouses, Kassandra Sutton, Logan Sutton, Morgan (Kaitlyn) Sutton, Christopher Tondevold, Amanda Tondevold, Jessica (Josh) Shipley and Alicia (Judy) Tondevold.

3 great-grandchildren, Jamison Sutton, Isaiah Sutton and Theodore Shipley;

There will be no formal services.
