Paul Richard Tilley

PAUL RICHARD TILLEY, age 82 of Athens, Tenn. passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at his residence. He was a native of Sweetwater, Tenn., resident of McMinn County, Tenn. most of his life, a son of the late Rev. James and Nellie Tilley, and preceded in death by Son: Richard Tilley, Brothers: Dr. W. Clyde Tilley, Jack Tilley, Sister: Mary Ruth Baumgartner McGinnis. He retired from Tilley's Insurance Agency. His life was fulfilled by being a loving husband, father, "Poppy", and an avid fan of the Tennessee Vols and the Atlanta Braves. 

Survivors: Wife of 63 years: Ann Russell Tilley of Athens, Tenn., Daughter: Paula Tilley Travis of Niota, Tenn. Grandchildren: Ansley Travis and Jack Travis, Great Grandson: Julian Travis as well as several nieces, nephews, and many other cherished family and friends. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 13, 2024, in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Womack officiating. Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Sunday, July 14, 2024, in McMinn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jack Travis, Tony Morgan, Mack Morgan, J R. Chadwell, Rick Baumgartner, Scott Bridwell and Steve Neill. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home.
