Paul Leland Smith

Paul Leland Smith, age 68 of Athens passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Life Care of Athens.  A native of Honolulu, Hawaii and resident of McMinn County most of his life.  He was the son of the late Alton Loyd and Mildred Irene Davis Smith. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens and taught school at Athens Junior High School. He then became an attorney and practiced law as well as served as a Juvenile Court Magistrate.  He loved to play and coach softball, as well as follow the University of Tennessee and Tennessee Wesleyan University sports teams.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am CST, Monday, December 10, 2018 at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta, Tennessee.

The interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Sparta. The body will lie-in-state from 9-11 am before the service at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta, TN.

There will also be visitation from 2-4 pm EST, Saturday  December 8, 2018 at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens, TN.
