Mary Sue Harris

MARY SUE SHELTON HARRIS, age 72 of Athens, Tenn. passed away Monday, December 8, 2025, in University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. She was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, a daughter of Cromer and Nannie Millsaps Shelton , Two Brothers: John Henry Shelton , Homer Shelton, Sister: Francis Johnson. She was a secretary for Independent Construction, was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of The Home Owners Association.

Husbnd of 57 years: Clifford Woody "Buddy" Harris of Athens, Tenn. Son: Scotty Harris and Sonya Hill of Athens, Tenn, One Granddaughter , several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Harris officiating. Interment will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearrs will be Jonathan Crain, William Crain, Johnny Shelton, Dewayne Johnson, Billy Joe Goins, and Wild Bill Goins. The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home.
