Loyd Ross Monroe

Loyd Ross Monroe, age 86, of Athens TN., passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Chattanooga Hospice Facility. Born in Meigs county, but a McMinn county resident most of his life, he is the son of the late Loyd Andy and Mary Alyne Morrison Monroe.

Loyd is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Sue King.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather to all of his family. He loved to farm and make sure his yard was in great shape.

Survivors:

Wife, of 67 years Dorothy Jackson Monroe; Daughter and spouse, Sandra (Tom) Marvin; Son and spouse, Gary (Marilyn) Ross; 3 grandchildren, Dr. Steven Blake (Amy) Housley, Dr. Melissa (Dr. James) Reynolds, Tempie Nichole Monroe; 9 Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow in Short Creek cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating. The visitation will be from 12-1 PM prior to the service.
