Louis Leon Dewitt

Louis Leon Dewitt, age 88 of Athens, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Tennova Healthcare of Cleveland.
A native of McMinn County and resident of Athens most of his life, he was a son of the late Lewis Lester and Nona Mae Carroll Dewitt and was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Joanne Latham Dewitt, 2 sisters and 1 brother,
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean War and was a former employee of Bowater and retired after more than 38 years of service.  
Survivors:
Son, Tony Dewitt of Athens;
Daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi Ann and Ricky Kennedy of Athens;
Four grandchildren and spouses:
Brandee and Jay Godsey, Brandon Kennedy, Lyndsi and Jason Roden, Ashley and Jason Mullican.
Eleven great-grandchildren
One great-great grandchild;
Several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 1, 2022, in First Baptist Church Annex.
Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
