LEE "ROY" HEMBREE, age 78 of Englewood, Tenn. passed away Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, the son of the late Leonard Allen and Fleta Mae Masingale Hembree. He retired from CSX Railroad after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Vietnam.
Survivors: Wife of 56 years: Janice Faye Smith Hembree of Englewood, Tenn. Two Sons and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Beverly Hembree of Englewood, Tenn., Jeremy Hembree and Stephanie Turner of Englewood, Tenn., Three Grandchildren: Bethany (Hunter) Stokes, Whitney Hembree, and Zeke Hembree, Two Great; Grandchildren: Mackenzie and Madilynn Stokes, Three Sisters: Yvonne Brock of Englewood, Tenn., Janice Dodson of Etowah, Tenn., Teresa (Joe) Wattenbarger of Sweetwater, Tenn., Brother: Lynn "Spider" (Sarah) Hembree of Englewood, Tenn, several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday in McMinn Memory Gardens Veterans Field of Honor with Military Honors followed by Don Smith and Mark Latham with Special Comments and Prayer.. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the Graveside service. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Hembree, Jeremy Hembree, Lynn "Spider" Hembree, Keith Hembree, Asher Witt, Joe Griffith, and Hunter Stokes. Honorary Pallbearer will be Zeke Hembree. There will be no formal visitation. Condolences may be sent to www.laycock-hobbs.com/notices/Lee-Hembree Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home, Athens, Tenn. in charge of arrangements.
