Kenneth Newman

KENNETH  RAY  NEWMAN,  age 83 of Athens, Tenn. passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020, in Chattanooga Hospice. He was born in Monroe County, Tenn. resident and lifelong resident  of McMinn County, Tenn.  and a son of the late Arlie Richard and Otto Elizabeth Lockmiller Newman and preceded in death by his first Wife: Virginia Benton Newman, and  Brother: Johnnie L. Newman.  He was a local farmer until he went to work for Athens Utilities Board where he retired after 34 years.  He was a member of East Athens Baptist Church. 

• Survivors: Wife of 16 years: Catherine Janetta Newman of Athens, Tenn.
• Two Daughters-and Sons-in-law: Jeannine and Joe Knox of Athens, Tenn. Janet "Jan"  and Tim Stephens of Athens, Tenn.,
• Five Grandchildren: Dr. Ashley Knox, Kayla (Colby) Thornton, Rachael (Derek) Johnson , Nathan Stephens, Leah Stephens
• Two Great grandchildren: William Ray Thornton, and Ezekiel Ryan Johnson,
• Brother and Sister-in-law: Charles B. and Charlotte Newman of Athens, Tenn.,
• Sister: Callie N. Wattenbarger of  Rainier, Washington 
• Sister-in-law: Barbara Joyce Cranfield of Niota, Tn. 
• Several nieces and nephews. 

A private graveside service will be held Wednesday in Idlewild Cemetery with Rev. Jason Robertson officiating.
