Delores Kaye Starr Kyker departed her earthly home at NHC Healthcare Athens on July 29, 2026, and God sent his angels to escort her to her heavenly home where she celebrated the homecoming with her brother, five sisters, mother, father and husband.
Kaye, a native of Athens, Tenn., born on Feb 2, 1945 to loving Christian parents, George Hunter and Willie Marie Starr, who preceded her in death.
Kaye was also preceded in death by her husband John Payne, brother Ray Starr and sisters Frances Monroe, Betty Wright, Wanda Patterson, Glenda Hall and Agatha Ray.
She is survived by her son Todd Buxton, granddaughters Lily and Time Buxton, twin-sister Faye (Eddie) Morris and brother George (Joyce) Starr.
Also several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm Saturday, August 1, 2026 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Bart Starr officiatng. Graveside service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery following the funeral. The Starr and Morris Family would like to extend their appreciation to NHC Health Care and Hearth Hospice for their loving care of Kaye.
