Karen Sue Jerome

Karen Sue Jerome, age 72, of Athens passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 at her residence. A native of Syracuse, and a resident of McMinn County for the past 10 years, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Mary E. Bacisin Hoke. She was a spiritual person who also related well to Native American beliefs and culture. Her real gift was a caregiver, and served as an LPN for the State of New York for many years. She loved animals and volunteered with a cat rehabilitation and rehoming program. She dedicated her life to giving to others.

Survivors include,
One son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Jessica VerDow of Blountville, TN; One daughter, Lynn VerDow of Fayetteville, NC; former husband, Harold VerDow of Jamesville, NY; Sisters, Mary Field of La Fayette, NY, Cathy West of Athens,TN, Dorothy Walter of Delmar, NY, Carol Monroe of Athens, TN, Gale Mease of Lititz, PA; brother, Michael Hoke of Tully, NY.
Several nieces and nephews.
