JOHN HADEN JOINES JR, age 67 of Athens, Tenn. passed away at his residence. He was a native of Penscola, Fla. resident of McMinn County most of his life, a son of the late John Haden Joines, Sr. and Iris Hundley Joines and preceded in death by a Brother: Ken Willis Two Sisters: Gloria Bowers and Johnna Hampton. He was a1976 graduate of Central High School, a former employee of TVA, spent 22 years at Textron and retired from Arch Chemicals. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving aboard the USS Denver. He loved to travel visiting all 50 states and many foreign countries.
Survivors: Daughter: Tierney Joines Kilby (His Baby) of Athens, Tenn. Two Grandchildren (His Little Buddies) : Knoxford Kilby and Barrett Kilby, Former Wife and mother of his daughter: Margaret CagleJoines .brothers-in-law Bill Cagle and Joe Cagle; Very special aunt who was like a mother to him, Dee Charles; many friends and family that he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends on August 22, 2026 from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. A graveside will follow at 3:30 PM in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Rev. David Umphrey officiating.
