John "Jackie" Mason

JOHN JACKSON "JACKIE" MASON, age 83 of Madisonville passed away Wednesday August 19, 2026, at his residence. He was a native of Sparta, Ga., former resident of Athens, Tenn. , resident of Madisonville for 20 years, a son of the late Claude Cecil and Frankie Mildred Arnwine Mason and preceded in death by Sisters and Brothers-in-law: Carolyn (Mark) McElhaney, Emma (Danny) Wattenbarger, Brothers and sister-in-law: Joe (Sandy) Mason and Roy Mason. He was a member and Deacon of Marshall Hill Baptist Church and retired from Heil Mfg. Co. after 30 years of service.

Survivors: Wife of 63 years: Brenda Faye Oliver Mason of Madisonville, Tenn., Daughter and son-in-law: Shelly Lynn (Randy) Torbett of Madisonville, Tenn., Matthew "Matt" (Bri) Mason of Madisonville, Tenn., Grandchildren: Amanda (Gary) Bogus, Kimberly (Justin) Anderson, Melanie (John) Higdon, Brian Mason, Jeff Mason, Bella Mason, Makenna Emery, Jaidyn (Joseph) Smith, Eden True and Emma True, Great Grandchildren Walker and Weston Bogus, Sam and Brooklyn Anderson, M. J. Higdon, Oaklee Smith, Blakely Smith, Ezra Smith, Kinsley Wagenmaker, Sophia Smith, Sister and Brothers, Phyllis (E.M.) Armstrong, Virgil Mason, J.C. (Jeannie) Mason, Sisters-in-laws: Lodema Mason and Lucy Sargeant, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 5:00 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Greg McCosh officiating. Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Monday in McMinn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Gary Bogus, Justin Anderson, John Higdon, Kevin Hudson, Casey Hudson, and Anthony Dennis. The family will receive friends from 3-5 Sunday in the funeral home.
