Jerry Wayne Carroll, age 81 of Athens, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Bernice and Edith Davis Carroll, he was the owner and operator of Sweetwater Electric Motor Service and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served with an aviation team of sailors. He was an avid classic car restorer, enjoyed gardening, and canning vegetables. Jerry was a lifelong member of Wildwood Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife Linda Gail Reeves Carroll (July 8, 2020)
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Amy Carroll of Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Nicki and David Haynes of Signal Mountain, TN; grandchildren, Logan Carroll, Patric Carroll, Max Carroll, Marjorie Demonbren, and Dylan McCosh and Mallory and Manning Haynes and great-grandchildren Harper and Maddox McCosh, and Lucy and Kate Carroll; brother and sister-in-law, David and Katherine Carroll of Englewood.
Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 pm Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. The graveside service will be 3:00 pm Sunday at Wildwood Cemetery with David Haynes officiating.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Wildwood Baptist Church Cemetery fund.
