Jeremiah Brock Hacker

Jeremiah Brock Hacker, age 18 of Athens, joined the Heavenly Band, Thursday, February 23, 2023.  A native of Cleveland and a resident of McMinn County most of his life, he was a gifted musician who was a part of McMinn County Cherokee Marching Band, and Walker Valley Mustang Band, He was selected as a two-time member of the ETSBOA Honor Band. He also was a member of the Hand Bell Choir at East Athens Baptist Church, as well as the Youth Music Program. He was a full time drummer for the North Cleveland Church of God High School Ministry, and graduated from Walker Valley High School with Honors and Distinction. He was accepted by the UTC School of Music.
He was survived by his parents, Jay Albert, III and Heather Patterson Hacker of Athens; his brother, Elijah Hacker; grandparents, Jay and Susan Hacker of Athens and Panky and Denise Patterson of Athens; aunt and uncle, Holly and Matthew Mayo of Greenbriar, TN; uncle, Heath and Erin Patterson of Christiana, TN; great grandmother, Phyllis Jones of Riceville. Cousins, Michael and Abigail Mayo, Elizabeth Mayo, William Panky Patterson; aunt by choice Wendy Boyd Martin; special person and unborn child, Lexie Meade and Hayzen Brockston.
Funeral services will be 7 pm Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. David Lones officiating with special speakers Elijah Hacker and Mandie Morris. The graveside service will be 11 am Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Tuesday before the service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Isaiah 117 House of McMinn/Monroe County.
