Jeanette Mildred Calahan


Jeanette Mildred Calahan, age 78, of Niota passed away Saturday July 21, 2018 at her residence.  A native of McMinn County and a resident of Niota for the past 20 years, she was the daughter of the late John James and Edith Derrick Cass. She was member of East Athens Baptist Church, Woodman of the World and Athens Senior Travel Club. She was retired from Athens Products and loved to travel.

She was proceded in death by:

  • Her sister, Evelyn Cass Watson;
  • Previous husbands Joe Thomas and Roy Farmer.
  • Brothers-in-law, Allen Roberts, Morris Bohannon and Ernest Watson

Survivors:

  • Husband of 23 years, Robert Calahan of Niota
  • Daughter and son-in-law; Cindy and Ken Hammonds of Englewood
  • Three Sisters and brother-in-law, Geneva and Denzil Burke of Athens, Connie Bohannon of Athens, Johnnie Cass of Florence, KY
  • One brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Joan Cass of Athens
  • Two step-children, Robert Calahan Jr. and David Calahan both of Johnson City
  • Grandson and spouse, Josh and Paula Hawn of West Palm Beach Florida
  • Great grandsons, Conner Arturo and Daniel Hawn.
  • Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 7:00pm Monday July 23, 2018 in the chapel of Laycock Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason Robertson officiating.

The interment will be 11:00 am Tuesday May 24, 2018 at McMinn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Monday before the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Youth Education Fund at East Athens Baptist Church.
