James Edward Moore

James E. Moore age 90 of Riceville passed away on September 27, 2026 at his residence. A native of the "Nobs" of Englewood and resident of Riceville. He was a son of the late George Edward and Maggie Lee Russell Moore and was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Rebecca "Becky" Moore, three sisters, Donzella Wallis, Jo McClure and Sally Hill. three brothers Bobby Gordon Moore, Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Moore and J B Moore.

He was a member of Valley Road Baptist and was a former employee of the McMinn County Hwy Department where he worked as a heavy machine operator. He was an avid hunter.

Survivors:

Daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Doyle Everhart of Riceville;

Son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Cindy Moore of Niota;

Four grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Shalom Everhart, Wendy and Chris Clute, Jimmy and Destiney Everhart, Lacy and Chris Crowder;

Great grandchildren, Lily, Kristin, Angelleana, Hope, Samuel, Gideon, Luke, Selah and Jed Everhart, Caleb and Chase Clute, Gage and Lexi Crowder;

Three great-great grandchildren.

One sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and Charlie Gentry of Athens;

2 brothers and sister-in-law, Bud and Myrtle Moore of Decatur and Lynn Moore of Athens.

Several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 29, 2026 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Everhart and Rev. Chris Crowder officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Valley Road Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Chris Clute, Chase Clute, Samuel Everhart, Gideon Everhart, Luke Everhart and Tyler Shoemake. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM prior to the service at the funeral home
