HELEN LEE SAFFLES, age 75, of Athens passed away on March 29, 2018 at her residence surrounded by family.  A native of Englewood and a life-long resident of McMinn County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Esta Lee of Englewood, TN.  She was a former employee of Johnson Controls and a member at Antioch Baptist Church.  She was a loving wife, mother & mamaw.

Preceded in death by:

  • Brother: Glen Lee

Survivors:

  • Her husband of 57 years; Dan Saffels
  • Two daughters; Tammy Proveaux of Athens and Leslie Helton of Madisonville
  • One daughter and son-in-law; Dana and Bill Harmon of Riceville
  • One son and daughter-in-law; Earl and Mandi Saffles of Englewood
  • Eight grandchildren; Jake, Hunter, Levi and Luke Saffles, Tyler Kyle, Traven Proveaux, Kasey and Kami Harmon
  • Three great-grandchildren;  Haleigh, Jayce and Camden Saffles
  • One brother; Doug Lee of Englewood
  • Several Nieces and Nephews

Funeral Services will be 7:00 PM, Saturday, March 31, 2018, with Rev. Larry Arwood and Rev. Bob Thomas officiating in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, April 2, 2018 at Hopewell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Madisonville, Tenn.  

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
