Gladys Kay Kehrer, age 73 of Niota, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was the daughter of the late Annie Givens. Gladys enjoyed traveling, golf and doing crafts, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and her brother James "Pete" Givens.
Survivors include; Husband of 27 years, Richard Kehrer of Niota; children, Wendy McJunkins (Randy) of Spring City, Chad Lingerfelt (Kim) of Athens; step sons; John Kehrer of San Antonio, TX, Edward Kehrer of Athens; step daughter, Heather Breeden (Jason) of Englewood; grandchildren, Emily Gentry, Will Gentry, Justin Gentry, Grayci Lingerfelt, Madden Lingerfelt, Maxwell Lingerfelt; step grandchildren, Lexi Balhman, Vince Kehrer, Christian McJunkins, Cadence Breeden, Macie Breeden; great-grandchild, Robbie Jimenez; sisters, Darlene Carroll (Tommy) of Athens, Margaret Robinson of Englewood, and Janie Puckett of Cleveland; brother Marshall Watson (Sheila) of Englewood; Several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express an emmence amount of gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Adoration Hospice of Sweetwater. Their expressions of love and kindness towards Gladys during her lengthy stay was uplifting to her surviving family.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 5-7 pm in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 7:00 pm Thursday following the visitation in the chapel. The Rev. Jerry Stephens will be officiating. The graveside service will be 11 am Friday, June 27, 2025 at McMinn Memory Gardens.
