Frances Marie Smith

Frances Marie Smith, age 72 of Englewood, passed away, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Erlanger Hospital.

A native and life-long resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Douglas Austin and Ruth Irene Dawson Gallihar, and was preceded in death by her husband, Horace "Buck" Smith.

She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, and was a former employee of Niota Textile and a former manager of Crazy Ed's Restaurant. 

2 sons and daughter-in-law, Toby and Stephanie Shanahan of Englewood.

James Shanahan of Madisonville.

4 Sisters and brothers-in-law, Claudine Harrison  of Madisonville

 Mary Ruth and Arthur Oody, Linda Jones, Kathy and David Cook all of Philadelphia.

4 grandchildren and spouse;   Brittany Shanahan, Brandon Shanahan, Jacob and Brittanie Stiles, and Colby Shanahan

2 great-grandchildren Marayah McCowan, Demarian McCowan

Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Friday, September 7, 2018 at Victory Baptist Church in Niota with Rev. Chad Hester and officiating.  Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Cedar Fork Cemetery in Philadelphia with Rev. Jeremy Sneed officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Jacob Stiles, Carson Sparks, Cody Sparks, Jamie Anderson, Jeremy Greene and Brad Hester.  The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Friday prior to the service at the church.  Those unable to attend may send condolences to www.laycockhobbs.com/notices/Frances-Smith.  Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens is in charge of the arrangements.
