Emma Irene Hagan

Emma Irene Mills Taylor Hagan, age 83 of Athens, went to be with the Lord Monday July 1, 2019 at Hospice of Chattanooga. A native of Albany, Kentucky and a resident of Athens for the past 10 years.  She was the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt "Ted" and Pearl Pennycuff Mills. She was of the Baptist faith and loved her bible study at the nursing home as well as crafts, playing the piano and singing. She loved her family very much which included her little dog named Oliver,and enjoyed being the greeter for NHC.

She was preceded in death by: 

  • Four sisters, Velvie Carlton , Annalene Stearns, Osalene Tweedy and Barbara Aaron.
  • Two husbands, James Homer Taylor and Clifton Hagan.

Survivors include:

  • Daughter and son-in-law; Teresa and Troy Huff of Athens
  • One son and daughter-in-law; James Richard and Tina Taylor
  • Grandchildren, Todd and Hunter Huff, Trent Huff, Taylor Beth Huff, James Taylor, and Caitlyn Taylor
  • Three Great-grandchildren, Brynna, Kensleigh, Zimri
  • Several nieces and nephews.
  • Special Friends, Sandy Huggins and Jewelene Coulter.

The family would like to thank the NHC and Hospice of Chattanooga staff for their special care.

The funeral service will be 7:00 PM Wednesday July 3, 2019 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.

The interment will be 2:00 PM EST  Friday, July 5, 2019 at Cave Springs Cemetery in Albany, KY.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Wednesday before the service at the funeral home.

Those unable to attend may send condolences to 

Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home will be in charge of the services.
