Edwin Ray Geren

Edwin R. "Castro" Geren, age 84 of Athens passed away, Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at NHC Healthcare of Athens.
A native and life-long resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Raymond and Minnie Patterson Geren and was preceded in death by his wife 
of 65 years Evelyn Geren; a sister, Mamie Rivette; a brother, Ronnie Geren and his faithful work companion, Goldie.
He was a truck driver for many years and then was owner and operator of Castro Heat and Air.  
Survivors:
1 daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Ray Thomas of Athens;
1 son and daughter-in-law,  Stacey and Melissa Geren of Athens;
4 granddaughters, Brittany and husband Brian Johnson, Haze Geren, Kayla Geren and Josie Green.  Grandsons: Codey Geren and Nathan Thomas, Eight Great Grandchildren: Blake Thomas, Brycen Thomas, Bradley Thomas, Kamden Geren, Cohen Geren, Bryce Johnson, Brendan Johnson, and Laken Thomas, several nieces and nephews. 
Memorial services will be 6:00 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2022 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 5-6 PM Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
