David Walker


David Walker, age 92 of Athens, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Starr Regional Medical Center-Athens.
He was a  native of Spadra, Arkansas residing in McMinn County for most of his life.  He was a son of the late Elmer and Maude Mae Morrison Walker, and was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Thomas Franklin Walker, James Alvin Walker, Earl Cressy Walker; and 1 sister, Sue Curtistine Faneuff.
He was a member of East Athens Baptist Church, and was Retired from Sears and Robuck after more than 30 years of service.  He was formerly employed at Wal-Mart as a greeter.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served in WWII.  

Survivors include

  • Wife of 64 years, Geneva Brown Walker;
  • 1 son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Sue Walker of Riceville;
  • 3 grandchildren; Austin Walker, Zac Walker, Lauren Walker and Fiance' Andrew Smith.
  • 2 brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Melvin and Virginia Colbaugh and Clyde Faneuff;
  • Several nieces and nephews

Funeral Services will be 7:00 PM Saturday, June 15, 2019 in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason Robertson officiating.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, June 16, 2019 in McMinn Memory Gardens with Military Honors.  The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
