Clyde Edward Morrison

Clyde E. Morrison, age 94, of Riceville, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Clyde was a native of McMinn County and was a lifetime member of North Athens Baptist Church, where he was most recently the oldest member and faithfully served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member for many years. His dedication to his church and community reflected his deep faith and servant's heart.

Clyde was a Korean War veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Missouri and the USS Mansfield. For many years, he cherished attending ship reunions. Clyde worked for Bowater for 37 years as a boilermaker, earning a reputation for his strong work ethic and dependability. In his leisure time, he loved traveling with Ruth and playing golf with his friends.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruth Oliver Morrison; Sister, Regina Carroll of Chattanooga, TN.

Clyde is also survived by his sons: Jeff (Trisha) Morrison of Mt. Juliet, TN; Mike (Lynn) Morrison of Athens, TN; and Tim (Marilyn) Morrison of Fountain Inn, SC. Grandchildren: Brandon (Jessica) Morrison of Nashville, TN; Jeremy Morrison of Avon, IN; Melanie (Joe) Lembo of Avon, IN; David Morrison of Athens, TN; Grant Morrison of Chattanooga, TN; Stephanie (Austin) Powell of Fountain Inn, SC; Andrew (Mary-Hannah) Morrison of Laurens, SC; and Caitlin (Eric) Moore of Boaz, AL.

His great-grandchildren include Peter, Henry, Lakelyn, Edie, Brooklyn, Thomas and Isabella.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Alma Morrison; his father's second wife, Ruby Grisham Morrison, and his sister, Ailene Morrison Amburn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Athens Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 23, 2026, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Packett and Dr. Shane Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at McMinn Memory Gardens with his grandsons as pallbearers. There will be no formal visitation.
