Charles Ray Shelton

CHARLES RAY SHELTON age 81 of Athens, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Clearance Clyde and Fannie Millsaps Shelton. He was a member at Short Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Shaw Industries having worked for 34 years. He loved gardening , fishing and digging ginseng. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dana Tallent Shelton (July 13, 2024), and his brother, Clyde Shelton.

Survivors include; daughter, Christine Crisp of Birchwood; two sons, Randy Shelton of Athens, Darrell Shelton (Robin) of Etowah; grandchildren, Courtney Crisp, Ryan Crisp, Jackson Shelton; two great-grandchildren, Savanna and Hanna; one brother, Carson E Shelton; a host of nieces, nephews and special friends. Visitation will be 12-2 pm Tuesday, May 13, 2025 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2 pm. The Rev. Martin Bowlin will be officiating The interment will be at Short Creek Cemetery following the funeral.
