Charles Lewis Lingerfelt, age 90 of Sweetwater, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026 at his residence. A native of Sweetwater and resident of Ten Mile and Sweetwater, he was the son of the late Charles William and Mammie Lee Davis Lingerfelt. Charles was retired from Olin Chemical Company and was a veteran of the U.S Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, but most of all he cherished being surrounded by his family at the lake. He was preceded in death by his step mother, Elizabeth Lingerfelt, and his first wife, Maxine Russell Lingerfelt.
The survivors include; his wife of 20 years, Cherry Oliver Lingerfelt of Sweetwater;
two sons, Bill Lingerfelt (Lisa) of Denver, Colorado, Russell Lingerfelt (Sandi) of Kansas; daughter, Heather Gross (Johnny) of Chattanooga; two step children, Suzette McKnight (Kevin) Niota, Missy Boruff (Rodney) of Sweetwater; grandchildren, Beth Wade (Mark), Jessica Frye (Cody), Kayla Walker, Donny Lingerfelt, Molly Thompson (Andrew), Megan Goins, Nathan McKnight (Amber), Blaine Boruff Starnes (Caleb), Gavin Boruff (Sierra); 13 great grandchildren and step grandchildren. One sister, Charlotte Cole (Jerry) of Sweetwater, Several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 25 at McMinn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Darrell Cardin. The pallbearers will be Mark Wade, Cody Frye, Rodney Boruff, Gavin Boruff, Nathan McKnight and Caleb Starnes; Honorary pallbearers will be Caden McKnight, Dan Trundle, Marty Hernandez, and Jeff Baker. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to your favorite charity.
