Bobbye Jean King

BOBBYE JEAN TOOMEY KING,  age 80 of Foley, Alabama went to be with Jesus Friday, August 17, 2018, at South Baldwin Medical Center in Foley, Ala. She was a native of McMinn County,  residing in Foley, Alabama.  She was a daughter of the late Clarence Leon and Viola Moses Toomey.  Bobbye accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and became a member of East Athens Baptist Church at an early age. She attended McMinn County High School where she was a member of the 1956 Class. In 1957, she married Roy B. King of Englewood, Tenn. and for 42 years they worked with Hardaway Construction Co. at 31 locations. She and Roy called Wilmington, N. C. their home and Freedom Baptist Church their church family.

  • Husband: Roy B. King on  Feb. 26, 2014, 
  • Two brothers: Jess (Jay) Willard Toomey, Clifford Leon (Pete) Toomey,
  • Sister: Elizabeth Holden Woods 
  • Brother-in-law: Ralph King

Bobbye was blessed with a daughter and son-in-law: Terry Collins Smallwood and Gary Smallwood of Saraland, Ala. Son and Daughter-in-law: Allen King and Cindy Long King of Keller, Texas, the joys of her life were her grandchildren: Brad and wife Jennifer Collins, Sunny Collins, Megan and Emily King,  great grandchildren: Drew and Lexi Collins, Sister and Brother-in-law: JoAnn and Dennis "Dip" Grubb of Athens, Tenn., Sisters-in-law: Faye Toomey of Athens, Tenn., Wanda Barnett of Englewood, Tenn. Brothers-in-law and spouse: Larry and Betty King of Marietta, Ga. Harold King of Englewood, Tenn., several nieces and nephews were loved by Bobbye.

A Celebration of her life will be at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 21, 2018 following visitation from 5-7 P.M. in the Chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Dodd Mayes, Pastor of Freedom Baptist Church, Wilmington, N. C. and Dr. Richard Holden, Associate Pastor of East Cobb Baptist Church, Marietta, Ga.

Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Debo Toomey, Barry Toomey, Hoby Toomey, Joey Grubb, Jim Grubb, Travis Barnett, and Brad Collins
