Betty Jo Hawkins

Betty Jo Francis Hawkins, age 87, of Athens passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at her residence. A native of Roane County, TN and a resident of McMinn County since 1992.  She was the daughter of the late Dartis Fritz and Annie Paisley Francis. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens,and enjoyed working in her Sunday School class, caring for children and helping with Mother Day Out at the church. She also loved walking her dog around North City School.

She was preceded in death by

• Her husband Rev. Fred Hawkins (June 8 2015),
• Four brothers, Robert Francis, Cliff Francis, Dartis Jr. Francis and Max Francis.

Survivors include:

• Daughter, JoAnn Hawkins of Athens
• Son and daughter-in-law, Robert Earl and Jill Hawkins of Winfield, Alabama
• Two grandchidren, Chandler Hawkins and Connor Hawkins
• Several nieces and nephews

A memorial service will be 2:00pm Sunday, July 14, 2019 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Paint Rock, TN.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
