Betty Regina Davis

Betty Regina Davis, 83, passed away peacefully on July 25 in Athens, TN.

Born on Feb. 26, 1943, to George and Leona Davis, Regina attended schools in Polk County until going away to college at Tennessee Tech University. She treasured raising her family and worshiping the Lord, just as she had learned on her family's farm. The work ethic of the farm never left her, and well into her 70s she kept busy all day long with chores.

Regina lived in Dalton, Athens and Chattanooga for many years, and in each place she made herself useful in the church choir and women's group, and visiting shut-ins or delivering meals. She lived not lecturing others, but by modeling selflessness and kindness.

The model of humility, Regina preferred spending her time in public libraries, parks, and forests much more than malls and stores. She welcomed all types of neighbors as her friends, and in general lived as a model citizen to her country, even working the poll at each election for over 20 years.She is preceded in death by Two Brothers-in-law: Bob Duckworth, and Charles Nicholson, and Harry Rymer.

Pet lover and animal protector, Regina enjoyed the company of cats and dogs tremendously, and still relished seeing cows on the farm even in her later days.

Regina is survived by her three siblings, Ronald (Cheryl) Davis, Charlotte Duckworth and Delpha Nicholson, her son Dr. David (Joy) Rymer, her daughter Jennifer Rymer, her grandchildren Taylor and Ethan Goldblatt from Chattanooga, Will and Jack (Shelby) Rymer originally from Athens, and Ivan, Chloe and Isaac Zavala from Mexico. Her eldest daughter Susan Goldblatt and her husband Shelton Goldblatt preceded her in death.

Graveside service will be Wednesday at 11:00

o'clock at Mt Herman Church cemetery in Polk
