Arveda Shelton

ARVEDA SHELTON, age 90, of Athens TN. passed away, Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Woods assisted living in Sweetwater. Born in Athens TN. and current resident of Sweetwater, she is the daughter of the late Dewey and Ophia Hennessee Hampton.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Garner Shelton; 2 Sisters, Minalee Coleman and Rella Crowe;

1 son, Harold Shelton.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to all of her family. She was a member of Clearwater Baptist Church for most of her life. Most importantly, she loved her savior, Jesus Christ.

Survivors:

Son and Spouse, Darrell (Starlingale) Shelton; 2 Daughters and spouse, Willa (Steve) Maxwell, Lisa (Tommy) Leamon; Daughter-in-law, Dianne Shelton

1 Brother and spouse, Clifford (Kathy Morrow) Hampton.

5 Granddaughters; 3 Grandsons; 17 Greatgrandchildren;

several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, August 31, 2026 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.

The graveside service will follow in Clearwater cemetery.

The family will hold a visitation from 12-1PM in the chapel, prior to the service.

Active Pallbearers will be Tracy Maxwell, Rudd Maxwell, Trey Jackson, Kelvin Hampton, Clifton Hampton and Steven Crowe.

The family would like to say special thanks to the exceptional staff at Woods assisted living in Sweetwater and Kathy Morrow Hampton and Sharon Cook for their faithfulness to Arveda.
