Thomas Obra Schumpert

Thomas O. Schumpert, age 65 of Athens, TN passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Orangeburg, SC but lived in Athnes with his wife of 40 years.  He was a former employee of TVA and Athens Utilities.  Tom loved his family, his dog Mai Ling, spending time at his cabin in Tipton Creek, NC and Tennessee Football. 

He was preceded in death by his father Louis Marion Schumpert, Sr. 

He will be missed by:

• Wife: Elaine Gray Schumpert of Athens, Tenn.,
• Daughter: Jennifer Geros Cartersville, Ga.,
• Two Sons: Brett Womac of Athens, Tenn., Jason Knecht of Athens, Tenn.
• Mother: Vonette Boylston of Columbia, South Carolina,
• Three Sisters: Robin Lee of Isle of Palms, S. Carolina, Vicki Wooten of West Columbia, S. Carolina, Dottie Robidoux of Lexington, S. Carolina,
• Brother: Louis Schumpert of Columbia, S. Carolina,
• Three Grandchildren: Savannah Geros, Garrett Geros, and Gavin Geros,
• Several nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 21, 2018 at SE Tennessee Trade and Conference Center, 122 Regional Park Drive, Athens, TN followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 Noon.  Memorial contributions may be made to Athens Civitan Club, c/o Jo Lundy 600 Woodward Ave., Athens, TN 37303; Tri-County Center P.O.
