Reva Lou Riggs Barton, age 88, of Athens passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph David and Emma Lou Carroll Riggs. She was a member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church and was retired from Athens Products. She was a world traveler and a founding member of the Athens Products Retirees. She worked hard all her life and was a strong Christian woman who truly lived her faith. She loved making baskets, gardening, and Tennessee Volunteer basketball. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur Glenn Barton, brother Clyde Lee Riggs, and niece Dale (Missy) Stapp.
Daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Owen Hale of Knoxville.
Daughters, Ann Barton and Nancy Barton both of Athens.
Grandchildren and spouses, Jenni and Michael Henderson and Jeremy and Laura Hale all of Knoxville.
Great-grandchildren, Alex Henderson, Haley Henderson , Sydney Henderson, Nathan Henderson, Hudson Hale, and Brady Hale all of Knoxville.
Sister, Lela Riggs Stapp of Livingston, TN.
Nieces, Bonnie Stapp of Livingston, TN and Penny Dean of Ocoee, Florida.
Several other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Chris Maynard, Dr. Steven Miller, Dr. Robert Martyn, and Avalon Hospice.
Mrs. Barton will be laid to rest with her husband at Cedar Grove Cemetery during a ceremony for immediate family to honor her wishes. There will be no formal visitation.
