Tommy Lamar Griffin, age 79, went home to be with Jesus on the evening of August 25, 2017.
He was born in Thomasville, Georgia but spend most of his adolescence and youth growing up in McMinn County attending Ingleside Elementary School and then going on to graduate McMinn County High School with the Class of 1956.
Tom served his country for four years in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Dover AFB, Keesler AFB and then in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He resided in the Orlando area much of his adult life and retired to a small town just outside Shreveport, in Benton, Louisiana, where he spent his last few years.
He was surrounded by his beloved family and the love of his life, Mary Alice at the time of his passing. He was an incredible Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle to so many.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Buford Clyde and Vessie Lee Barnes, and Thomas Baker Griffin, as well as both of his brothers Anthony Clyde Barnes and Dennis Calvin Barnes and three infant sisters.
Tom left behind an adoring wife of 48 years, Mary Alice Griffin, 5 Children, Tommy Griffin Jr., Rebecca Lane Jones, Kenneth "Bo" Lane, Linda Griffin and Brian Griffin, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, who will all carry on the memory of this amazing man.
