Vesta McDonald Price, 91, of Athens, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Life Care Center of Athens.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie T. and Gertrude Mayo Watts McDonald. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ranson "Ran" Price, on Jan. 7, 1970; two daughters, Reba Price and Helen Price; and three sons, Bobby Price, Jimmy Price and Charles Price. She was a member of Pond Hill Baptist Church and an avid quilter.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sybol and the Rev. Claude Irons of Niota, and Billie Rose and Morris Hammonds and Jackie Rudd, all of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Dellie Price and Ray and Carolyn Price, all of Athens; one stepdaughter, Pauleda Butler Cunningham of Athens; one stepson, Kenneth Price of Birchwood; one sister, Frances Giles of Sweetwater; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Claude Irons officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Pond Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Rick Irons, Keith Irons, Randy Irons, Russ Hammonds, Doug Fugate and Parker Fugate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
