Thomas Owen "T.O." "Todd" Kennedy, 88, of Athens, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at his home.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late John Alexander and Sarah Hila Foster Kennedy, and was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Louise Land Kennedy, on June 18, 1995; one son-in-law, Robert "Denny" Butler; five sisters, Ida Ruhanna, Carrie Jones, Maggie Watson, Naomi Kennedy and Rebecca Kennedy; and four brothers, John Henry Kennedy, Bart Kennedy, Warner "Chittle" Kennedy and James "Jim" Kennedy; He was a lifelong member of Sewee Church of God, was a farmer and was a retired employee of Bowater Southern Paper Manufacturing Company with 30 years of service.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Burchalene and the Rev. Kenneth Gardner and Paula Butler, all of Athens; one sister, Juanita DeLorenzo of Lenoir City; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Charles and Betty Kennedy and Dorothy "Dot" Kennedy, all of Athens; two grandchildren and spouses, Emily and Jason Moody of Cleveland, and Tina and Chris Cleek of Athens; three great-grandchildren, Heather Cleek, Shelby Cleek and Sarah Moody; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Gardner and Pastor Linda Parton officiating. Graveside services will be noon Friday at McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Chris Cleek, Jason Moody, Daryl Galyon, Tracy Elliott, Pete Newman and Bruce Monroe. Honorary pallbearers will be Marshall Kennedy and the men of Sewee Church of God.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
