Tedye Shoemaker Derrick, 78, of Athens, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Sweetwater Hospital.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Ted and Ruby Smith Shoemaker, and was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Curtis Derrick, on Jan. 3, 1996. She was a member of East Athens Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Cecil David Derrick of Athens, and Daniel Curtis and Donna Derrick of Loudon; one sister, Johnnye Willett of Athens; three grandchildren, Rachel Derrick, Michael Derrick and Mystie Derrick; one great-grandson, Logan Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Pete Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be David Derrick, Dan Derrick, Michael Derrick, Skip Willett, Richy Willett and Marty Thompson. Kenny Derrick will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
