Mrs. Sylvia Jean Walker, age 70, of Athens, Tenn. passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2008 at her residence.

A native and life-long resident of McMinn County she was a daughter of the late William Horace and Norma Rogers and Martin.

She was an avid bowler and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors: One son and daughter-in-law: Rod and Denise Walker   of Athens, Tenn.  Daughter:  Carol Ann Walker Hurst of Athens, Tenn.  Brother:  Billy Carroll Martin of Cleveland, Tenn.  Sisters:  Verla Hicks Martin of Athens, Tenn. and Inez Martin Hicks of Athens, Tenn.  Grandsons: Mitchell Dyke, Nathan Letterman, and Seth Walker.  Great-grandhcildren: Hayden Mabes and Cole Dyke.

Funeral Services will be 8:00 PM Sunday, October 26, 2008 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Rev. Claude Irons officiating. 

Graveside Services will be 10:00 Monday in Chestuee Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers will be Tracey Martin, Chris Jamey, Mitchell Dyke, Nathan Letterman, and Seth Walker.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 at the funeral home.
