Rue L. Shamblin, 95, of Kennesaw, Ga., and formerly of Athens, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, in Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga.
She was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, and had moved to Marietta, Ga. eight years ago to live near her son. She was a daughter of the late Monte and Emma Burrel Lusk, and was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Ralph Shamblin, on Feb. 25, 2006; two sisters, Sue Allen and Mae Bohannon; and two brothers, Mark Lusk and Frank Lusk. She was a lifelong member of North Athens Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Elisha Shamblin of Marietta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Tina Stewart, Tawnya Brogdon and Mark Shamblin; five great-grandchildren, M.J. Stewart, Abby Stewart, Tanner Brogdon, Emma Shamblin and Reilley Shamblin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Kerr officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
