Mr. Ronald Douglas"Ron" Hood, age 60 of Athens passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 at his home.

A native of  Lawrenceburg, Tenn., raised in Kingsport, Tenn., and resident of Athens of 35 years, he was a member of Woodward Avenue Church of  God, where he served as Church Administrator since 1997.  He was associated with several Mission Organizations at the Church and served as a police officer for the City of Athens from 1970-1975.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving with the U. S. Army as a Chaplain Assistant.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lavon Hood and a sister, Donna K. Shell.

Survivors: Wife of 42 years, Sharlene Howell Hood of Athens.  Special Pet Companion: "Precious".  Parents:  Cecil and Beatrice Arnold Hood of Kingsport, Tenn.  Sister, Reba Hood of Atlanta, GA.  Three Brothers, Dwayne Hood of Atoka, TN., Dr. John William Hood of Gate City, Va., and Baxter Hood, of Kingsport, TN.  Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8:00 P. M. Monday at Woodward Avenue Church of God with Rev. Chris Thomas, Rev. Clifford Waters, Rev. Wayne Fritts and Rev. Abel Cuen officiating. 

Graveside services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday at McMinn Memory Gardens.  Pallbearers will be Preston Mosier, Coy Sharp, Marvin Kelly, Bill Gentry, Sr., Rob Wilson, Sam Midenda.

Memorial contributions maybe made to The Nigeria Project, % Woodward Avenue Church of God, 507 Woodward Ave., Athens, TN 37303.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday at Woodward Avenue Church of God.
